1. the important phone call

are you a big fan of the click five? if so, 987 may just send you and four other friends to an exclusive showcase with the click five at the ministry of sound! all you have to do is send C5 space your name space your NRIC to 72346. if our deejays call you, just sing any lines from any click five song to prove to us that you're their biggest fan! and what's more, you may stand a chance to win a Gibson Hummingbird guitar signed by all the members of the click five! it's that easy! apparently they started giving out tickets on the second week of october. i only heard about this 'thing' on the 3rd week i guess; wasn't listening to 987 much back then. so i thought i would give it a try since it's free, the click 5 is not that bad a band, i can bring four friends and along and i have never been to any major or 'WOW'-factor kind of showcase or concert or music performance or WHATEVER it's called. so i sent in quite a FEW times for various radio shows: 'desiree the lunch buddy' [i'm not rlly sure if she gave tickets out or not], 'shan and ros show', 'say it with soo' [!!!!!] and the 'muttons to midnight'. rlly disappointing when my phone didn't ring at all and the names said weren't mine either. i didn't try during the 'dan and young show' cause it starts at 5 to 10 am and i usually manage to keep my eyelids up at 10 plus. so i thought that my chances of winning was seriously shortened or LIMITED.

i tried to ask jazz to help me send in since she likes click 5 just as much as i do, but she said it was a waste of time and money and winning it is VERY SLIM. come 19/10 and i thought no hope was left since that was supposed to be the date that they stop giving free passes out. then muttons announced that due to overwhelming response, they would extend it until the click 5 came to singapore to perform. so i tried once more; this time with more hope and determination, and a higher chance of being scolded by my dad for $$$ spent on smsing. hehehe. =)

birthday came and went on 22/10 and i thought if i said they could give me the tickets as a birthday present [the BEST! WOOOHOOOO.] when i send in my sms, they just MIGHT. how naive but i did hold some hope. i always thought anything is possible. [even magic sometimes, but we'll talk about this another time.] so on 23/10 night i was studying for chem fervently as the next day was paper 2. I DID NOT LISTEN TO THE RADIO. it was the last day, i think, that they were giving out the tickets. i was just starting on the HABER PROCESS when i got a call. UNKNOWN NUMBER. i rlly, for a moment, thought that i might win but i dismissed it as fast as it came - i can't be twice lucky for the london trip thing and this as well. so imagine my shock when...

[ALERT: this is what i THINK happened. i cant rlly rmb well. mind was BLANK.]

soo [DJ @ 98.7fm]: hey, this is soo from 987, is this valerie?
me: yah. oh my god.
soo: you don't have to call me a god, i'm not a god you know. [she giggles.]
me: hehehe... [lame laugh. LOLLS.]
soo: so... [i couldn't concentrate and i thought my heart would stop but it just started beating faster. OH MAN.] so all you have to do is sing a few lines from any click 5 song.
me: any song?
soo: yes.
me: [breathing slightly abnormally and pausing for the moment to try and think cause seriously my mind is all a blank. as blank as a piece of huge a4 size WHITE paper. OH MAN.]
soo: relax, don't be nervous. [she wasn't saying this but smtg more than this. OH GODDD.]
me: okay. [pause again to breathe. OR HYPERVENTILATE.] hey girl i wanna catch your wave, hey girl i wanna drift away with you. can? [OH MAN. i shld have sung 'jenny' which i preferred to sing recently but the first song that came to my mind was that and i didn't hesitate in case she hung up on me. GODDD.]
soo: yes, that's great! you've just won yourself and four other friends passes to the exclusive showcase by click 5! now say 'oh i love you soo' for me ... ... [me almost going to say...] hang on, i didn't record that.

turns out i learned smtg about the radio world. they don't call you LIVE, they call and RECORD. so she didn't record me saying that [AND SINGING AS WELL] so we had to do a re-record. my heart was still pounding like SHIT lah. but at least this time i can concentrate better and when she said i won the tickets AGAIN, i thought - WOW, this is it, i can die and go to heaven without a care. [that means ENORMOUS HAPPINESS AND BURSTING WITH JOY. YAH. =] then she reminded me to go to MOS at 6pm and 'DON'T BE LATE'. those words echoed in my mind.

after she said bye, i practically opened my bedroom door with much force [accident lah, too excited and i was studying in an enclosed CONDUCIVE environment] and ran into my parents bedroom where my parents were watching telly and my brother was on the com. i went up to my bro straightaway cause he heard me whining about not getting the tickets and he even volunteered to help me win [he's nice =] but i said nevermind. my mum was like, or was it my dad? i'm not sure, but someone started interrogating me and i tried my best to answer their qns. then i went back into my room and called wanfen. [she texted me and said 'OMG?! YOU WON?! :D ] and i was excited when telling her and she said she heard me on the radio. GODDD. some more my radio not on so i think i got a heart attack not due to arteriosclerosis or anyth. but i immediately contacted ham and JASLYN TAN WEI LIN [who said i COULDN'T win] and asked them and wanfen to go along. OH MAN. it is pure ecstasy.

2. the game plan

so the five people going or actually GONE already [very confusing larh] would be me, my mum [she was worried and i thought, okay], wanfen, hamidah and MS TOMATO FACE. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! =D

3. live the dream. WOW. i am. =)

since wf and my mum dunno too much about click 5, i suggested that they watch the click 5 when they played on 'live the dream'. i was practically glued to the tv for the whole show trying to see when they came on. apparently they came on only the results show and i was stuck with watching the victor tang guy singing rather out of tune. then the cameras went into the backstage or some dressing rm and ben frm click 5 did not have a t-shirt on. SERIOUSLY. hahaha. =) when they played, [GAHHH!!!], they were great. they played 'empty' first, which i liked quite alright and then the all famously known "FIRST YOU SAY YOU WON'T, THEN YOU SAY YOU WILL"... you know. 'JENNY'. but the kyle [lead singer whom so many girls love or go ga-ga over] came off a little fake and SPACED OUT. he was like 'YEAH. YEAH. WE LOVE SINGAPORE. THE whatwhatwhat WERE RLLY NICE.' and whatever and he didn't SMILE AT ALL. that kind of lacked sincerity larh. -.-" oh wells. in school i sang it as 'jaslyn' to tease ms 'pokemon parody fanatic'. my mum thought they were not bad after watching the tv show. WOW. i love you mum. XD its just nice that yi xuan [ I LOVE YOU!!!] gave me the click 5 cd as a birthday present and now i am hooked on their songs. HAIZ. thank you so much xuan. thank you SOSOSOSOSO much!!!!! =D

4. on the day of chem paper 2

went alright. doable. i was quite happy that i can do it. possible to get what i want i guess. this week's been FANTASTIC. told jyn i won the tickets. [JIAYAN!!! CHEER UP!!! =] i was practically skipping hme and ate some cookies while watching 'ugly betty'. no time to talk to my friends who were going to the C5 showcase though. ham rushed off dunno where, jazz's dad came to fetch her and she said she would call me about art but she didn't and wanfen was no where to be found. ALAMAK. want to discuss some things with them actually.
