dear heavenly father,
i implore you at this hour of need. my dearest grandfather has just been hospitalised due to a sudden stroke. it is very unfortunate for such an illness to befall him especially since he is such an active person. he has been dealt a heavy blow for he lacks mobility and has trouble speaking to us as the stroke has affected his ability to speak. he is now almost incomprehensible. but there is some comfort as he is now under the care of dedicated warriors; the nurses and doctors at SGH. i hope that he will put in some effort to recover as fast as possible and i only can will it to be speedier. he has to under go physiotherapy but im sure he will be well soon. please, GOD, help him in this crucial period and be his guardian angel and give him the strength to persevere. he knows that his family is always behind him and supporting him throughout this trying ordeal. i pray all this in Jesus' name. Amen.

Stroke or cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the rapidly developing loss of brain functions due to a disturbance in the blood vessels supplying blood to the brain. This can be due to ischemia (lack of blood supply) caused by thrombosis or embolism, or due to a hemorrhage. In medicine, a stroke, fit, or faint is sometimes referred to as an ictus [cerebri], from the Latin icere ("to strike"), especially prior to a definitive diagnosis.
Risk factors for stroke include advanced age, hypertension (high blood pressure), previous stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA), diabetes, high cholesterol, cigarette smoking, atrial fibrillation, migraine with aura, and thrombophilia (a tendency to thrombosis). Treatment of stroke is occasionally with thrombolysis ("clot buster"), but usually with supportive care (physiotherapy and occupational therapy) and secondary prevention with antiplatelet drugs (aspirin and often dipyridamole), blood pressure control, statins and anticoagulation (in selected patients).

please ppl: health is wealth and you DO NOT want to wait til its too late. eat more veggies, eat your vitamins [if you have any], drink lots of water, join a sport as CCA or do more running during PE, always take occasional beaks to have some rest and look out of the windows occasionally, go for yearly health checkups and when you are sick - GET AMPLE REST; don't sleep too late and now that it's the holidays, study hard play hard and REST WELL.
