YOU SING, YOU DANCE AND YOU STEAL THINGS.
i have finally got my hands on what i've been waiting for since
months ago. the wait has been
SO worth it. now i soak myself in every moment.
IT HAS SET ME BACK ABOUT
10 LOAVES OF GARDENIA BREAD OR AROUND
6 PLATES OF HAINANESE CHICKEN RICE. such is the evil of purchasing albums. ;)
i guess i am pretty lucky that i have informants everywhere. or something i would like to call - very good
FRIENDS. =) someone very trustworthy and
FREE checked out the nearest music store to my home and said that they had the EP.
like
AWESOOOOOOMMMMMMMMES.
went there on thursday and strolled to
THAT CD SHOP. [serious - thats the name of it. =p ]GIVEN A CHANCE, i would have gone to
GRAMAPHONE, cause i really think they can be trusted. i've had a good buy from there, experienced great service and
LOVE THEIR TAGLINE. thank god i restrained the impulse of running out the shop with
JASON MRAZ in my hands. i think i might have waved it around my head, yelling - every bit like a champion with his 'I AM FIRST' trophy.
persevere. =O
went upstairs to
MUSIC JUNCTION. didnt rlly have much faith in them. they have pretty pricey albums there. but
LO AND BEHOLD, they had his album there at 4 BUCK
LESSER.
LOVE YOU GUYS. period. [YES-
AH!]
[skips uninteresting details of
excitement and
ECSTASY.]________________________________________

album review:
WE SING. WE DANCE. WE STEAL THINGS.
mraz's definition of the album title is that the songs in this album are meant for us to sing along. with great music comes the
FEEL to dance and jive. in addition, he also explains how we ALL STEAL THINGS. in the sense that all the ideas we have are from someone else or some other place. meaning these things
WE talk about are not our original ideas. so we recycle; THEREFORE WE
STEAL.
i say this album is pretty
awesome and JM never fails to
impress me. in fact, i think this is his
best album to date. dont let the cover fool you - beneath its simple exterior is a very
BEAUTIFUL STORY. =P [pardon the use of LOUSY words.]
if i were to use an analogy, listening to him sing is like having a
GIANT CHOCOLATE BROWNIE CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE FUDGE ICE CREAM FROM BEN AND JERRY'S. it's that
delicious.
rich, sinful - YET TERRIBLY
SATISFYING AND
GRATIFYING.
this album is a huge change from his previous EP, which featured much guitars. this one has a variety of sounds - hiphop beats, big brass bands, a choir and other
WIERD SOUNDS. ;) i love that he is daring with experimentation and that IT WORKS OUT SO WELL!!!
i've previewed a few songs from his album before they were even out. so - i guess they count as songs worth mentioning.
'They Dynamo of Volition' is intriguing. he sings at his famous
F1 RACECAR speed and the lyrics are - how do i put it in words? it is almost similar to storytelling, with much CHIMINOLOGY.
'Live High' is one of my favourites [ ;)
YOU KNOW WHY] and he sings about the positivity in life. not forgetting
'I'm Yours', the hit single off his new album.
he is equally brillant on his collaborations with
Colbie Cailat and
James Morrison. when it comes to ballads, he works his magic. for example,
'Love For A Child' explains his parents' relationship and the divorce he witnessed. it's so heart-felt. i think he really expressed himself well on that one.
then he can be like a chameleon. on the song '
BUTTERFLY', a lady commented that it was the perfect 'F___ me' song.
I CANNOT AGREE MORE. =P
but i try to be unbiased. i do prefer the acoustic versions of his songs. he always sounds so natural AND MUCH BETTER
LIVE. i wish he would return to s'pore and give an intimate showcase. =/

the sports season for JCs have somewhat ended. it has been a slightly disappointing year for SA, but NO FRET. we still have next year and
HOPEFULLY, we will get to bring something
shiny and
golden BACK TO SCHOOL.
until then, this week has been rather splendid. i passed my bio lecture 2 test [
BARELY], i got my hands on JM's album, i got to watch double hockey finals [and
MISS MORE LESSONS, in succession], did a good deed by donating to the SICHUAN and MYANMAR charities [
LET'S PRAY FOR THEM], i ate an
ORANGE ICE LOLLY, had a
GREAT mentoring session, met
HAMSTERRRR AND
GIANT and jia hui [on the MRT home], GOT TO KNOW THE GOOD NEWS THAT
DAVID COOK WON AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 7 [which is SO RIGHT!!!], and had an incredible week - in short.
cant wait for next week; i
guess. =P
BE POSITIVE AND OPTIMISTIC.
THERE IS ALWAYS BRIGHT LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL.
