BOXING DAY IS TODAY.

AND THE WINNER IS ...

Category 1 - Male Singer:

James Morrison
JASON MRAZ :D
John Mayer
Ne-Yo

It may seem like an unfair decision to you but honestly, riding on his success [any maybe it has become a tad annoying] of the song “I’m Yours” that has got everyone humming and bopping themselves silly to it. But once again, he’s proven that he has mettle and only such charming personality can garner this many votes.

AH WHAT AM I SAYING? I LOVE HIM AND HE WINS. :P

Category 2 - Female Singer:

Alicia Keys
Ingrid Michaelson
Rihanna
Sara Bareilles
Yui

I think this year has been a good one for her although not many people know of her. She may not have a hit song like Bareilles or endless ones like Ms Umbrella. She sure can’t beat Grammy-winning songstress who’s good at tinkling the ivories nor the Japanese wunderkind with her electric guitar. Yet she wins cause she is creative and very indie. :D

Category 3 - Band:

Maroon 5
Melee
Panic At The Disco
Paramore

Reduction of list to make choosing easier although for a while, I thought it was a sure-win for Adam and friends. But but but, it had to be Panic cause they made everything interesting this year and they were good live. Although their songs [and more famously/infamously] and song titles are strange and getting stranger each time they release their new records, they are still pretty cool. PRETTY ODD TOO. :P

Category 4 - Song Of The Year:

DBSK – Mirotic
Jason Mraz – I’m Yours
Sara Bareilles – Love Song
The Script – The Man Who Can’t Be Moved
This Providence – Waste Myself

This one was difficult to choose, what with all the choices to make ! ARGH. I narrowed the list down and still was struggling to make a decision. However, I had to so I chose the song with the highest play count on this list, as well as ability to make me start singing/dancing/doing something worthy to be song of the year. And it is MIRRRRRRRRRROTIC ! :D This was the only song that inspired me so much – to learn the dance, to sing it properly in the language it was sung in, to fangirl over a group of guys who come from a country where most people are plastic [THEY. ARE. NOT.] and yada yada. Even Mraz did not inspire me to learn the guitar [it was YUI haha] although I have to admit that I did learn how to play “Love Song” but failed. :P

DONG BANG SHIN KI HWAITING ! :D

Category 5 - Newcomer:

David Archuleta
David Cook
The Cab
The Hush Sound
This Providence
The Ting Tings

Based on quality, 2 bands would probably vie for the top spot but my gut told me that it has to be them. Them with the hypnotic ditties that don’t require singing or that much of it. Them with power of only a guitar and drums to give us some good songs. Them who are arriving here in sunny island on the 13th January ’09 – THE TING TINGS !

I love their name btw. :D

Category 6 - Most Annoying:

Womanizer – Britney Spears
I Kissed A Girl – Katy Perry
Low – Flo Rida
Bleeding Love – Leona Lewis
Mercy – Duffy
Teardrops On My Guitar – Taylor Swift

I never thought annoying songs could win anything. Anws, I decided this one through the elimination method, so Duffy and Swift and Spears and Perry got kicked out pretty fast. I didn’t really listen to much of their songs back then – I THINK. :P Thus it was a toss up between Hip-Hop and Ballad/RnB. In the end, Lewis wins it because I absolutely hate it when she goes “keep bleeding, keep keep bleeding love” and also because its bloody irritating to have people who listen to it mimic her. MY POOR EARS. =/

congrats. ;)
